GARDEN DESIGN PROCESS

It can often feel overwhelming to know where to begin when designing your ideal garden. But working with a garden designer takes the strain and confusion out of the process.

At Leafy Green I aim to transform the experience from stressful to joyful as you fall in love with your outdoor space. From the moment you begin to imagine a lifestyle which includes your idyllic garden to the point where that vision becomes a reality, I can advise, guide and manage your entire project to ensure that the result is all you have been dreaming of.

Below is an overview of the journey to your dream garden…

I begin with a visit to your garden!

This will include:
• A discussion of your current garden issues and ideas for what you would like it to be, and a garden walk-around.
• Time for us to look at a client preference presentation to explore which garden styles excite you.
• A client questionnaire to find out more about what you want and need from your garden in the future.
There is no charge for this visit, it is all complimentary and an exciting moment to explore your hopes and wishes for your outdoor space.

Following my visit, I put together your brief and my quotation for the work you would like me to do. This might be simply a design for you to take away and work with yourself. It may include some sourcing of plants, or you may prefer me to take the stress out of the process and project-manage your design to completion! Whatever your preference, I can offer a bespoke service to suit.

The next step is a concept design!

Once you’ve taken the first step of choosing Leafy Green to create your dream garden, I get to work on designing a concept to match your brief! I then visit again to share the concept with you along with a presentation of suggested materials and plant selections.

The concept is complete and now it is time to execute the plans in detail! You will receive a full set of design plans that include a hard-landscaping, lighting, and planting plan, along with a materials and plant specification list. I visit to present these to you. Visualising the beautiful design in detail is always a thrilling experience!

If you have chosen Leafy Green to project manage your build, I organise quotations for the work, and once agreed, dates are set for the build to begin. Depending on the size of the project, I discuss and agree with the contractor the number of site visits required from me during the building work. Usually, it is a minimum of three visits.

The build begins!

The build begins, and you watch your garden take shape! I am on hand to ensure that everything runs smoothly, to answer any questions that might arise, and to deal with snagging. At the same time, I ensure that your plant order is prepared and waiting in the wings just prior to the completion of any hard landscaping. They are delivered fresh and ready to go into new beds once all the hard landscaping is complete, dressing your new outdoor space to perfection.
